Rashi's commentary: When there will be a zav. It might be thought that a zav becomes impure from any source, but the teaching says 'from his flesh' and not all his flesh. After the scripture differentiates between one kind of flesh and another, I am entitled to judge: impure with a zav and impure with a zavah. Just as a zavah from a place that she makes lightly impure, niddah, makes heavily impure, zivah, so too a zav from a place that makes lightly impure, keri, makes heavily impure, zivah: his discharge is impure. This teaches about the drop that makes [one] impure. A discharge is similar to barley dough water and thin, and similar to the white of a strange egg. A seminal emission is tied up like the white of a non-strange egg.

From Rashi here we learn that the law of zav is like the impurity of emitting semen, but its impurity is more severe, and it requires purification with living water, namely a spring (Zavim, Chapter 1, Mishna 1), and the definition of zav from here is according to the stringent opinion that I learned, which is seeing semen emission more than once in three days.
