Zavim, Chapter 1:
"If a man has seen one issue of zov: Bet Shammai says: he is to be compared to [a woman] who observes a day for each day..."
On the path of purity, or at least aspiring to it, when a person counts seven clean days to purify themselves from the impurity of a zav, starting from the third day of the counting, they may experience one discharge and observe a corresponding clean day for that day without invalidating the counting of the seven clean days. Instead, the seventh day is postponed by that day. However, one must be careful not to return to the impurity of a zav, for if on the third day they experience a discharge, they must not only observe a corresponding clean day but also count at least two additional clean days beyond the day they experienced the discharge. Otherwise, they return to the status of a zav and must invalidate the count and begin again. The essence of the matter is that on the seventh day, they immerse in a spring of living water. It is worthwhile to strive for purity, as it is this striving that provides the connection to the sanctity within, enabling one to discover what their heart truly and sincerely desires.
